Do you have a computer-related question? Having trouble with your operating system? Can't figure out how to get your word processing program to print? The SPCUG Answer Guys may be able to help you! Here's how it works:
  1. Prepare your question. Take plenty of time. If it's a hardware question, make a list of the appropriate hardware items, including manufacturer and model descriptions. For software questions, include the manufacturer name, version number, etc. The more information you supply, the easier it will be for us to provide an answer.
  2. Pick a category. Try to determine which category (advanced, intermediate or beginner) your question falls under. If you don't know, select the beginner category.
  3. Write and send the e-mail message. Be sure to include as much additional information as possible.
  4. Wait for an answer. Our answer guys are volunteers, so please don't expect an immediate answer; they will get back to you as soon as they can.

The answer(s) you receive will vary, depending upon the complexity of your question, the information you supply and the knowledge and experience of the Answer Guys. We will make every effort to answer your question, including forwarding the question to other answer guys who may be able to help. Realize, however, that your problems may be specific to your particular installation and, without a similar installation, our Answer Guys may not be able to solve your problem.

This service is free; however, there are some catches:

  1. It costs you nothing to send a question to the Answer Guys. Nor does it cost you anything for their replies.
  2. You may get what you pay for (in other words, the Answer Guys may not be able to help).
  3. The Sacramento PC Users Group (SPCUG) reserves the right to publish the questions and answers, either in our monthly newsletter or on our web pages, as a service to other computer users who may be having similar problems. We will not publish either your name or e-mail address!
