Our Listserv Is a Great Tool

Some months back, Frank Leonard needed someone to copy a VHS tape of the General Meeting by a couple of visitors interested in the SPCUG. Several members later asked Frank if they could view and possibly purchase the tape. So, a volunteer call went out over the members' listserv for someone with a VCR machine and some free time. Roy Korb, Gary Sloan and Milt Hull quickly responded, but Milt ended up doing the job. This is a great example of how we find new volunteers to keep things happening around the SPCUG.

If you have been on the listservs or at the Steering Committee meetings lately, you might have picked up on talk about new and more advanced educational training classes and other suggestions to serve the ever-changing membership of the SPCUG. We also have a responsibility to the public and our community, being a nonprofit, service-oriented organization. These new ideas will need new volunteers to develop and activate them. Please help, if you can spare the time.

New Volunteers
We welcome Don Bussel to the eBlue Web Team. I met Don at the last General Meeting. By now the eBlue staff have surely contacted Don, so he could be included in the production of the next issue. I hope Don and Beth find this new volunteer work enjoyable and worth their time, as I have found it to be since I became a volunteer of the SPCUG in 1993.

Volunteer Activity
The holiday season is the time for us to celebrate the end of another year with another of our (almost) annual parties. The party was open to everyone who volunteered for the SPCUG. This year the party was held at the home of Ken Hopkins. Ken, also being a long time volunteer of the group in many other areas, made the arrangements and did the set-up along with his gracious wife, DJ. This was a potluck and everyone brought their favorite party foods. Thanks Ken and DJ for your very welcomed efforts in providing all the volunteers with a fun and festive event.
