The January meeting covered some of the new features in Microsoft Word 2000. Two of the new editing features are click and type, and collect and paste. Click and type allows you to double-click anywhere in a document, and start typing from that point. If you double-click ten lines from the top of the page, on the right side of the page, the cursor moves to that point, without the user having to hit the enter key, or manually change the alignment. Collect and paste allows twelve objects or pieces of text to be cut or copied into the Office Clipboard, rather than the usual Windows Clipboard limit of one object. Each new copy or cut adds another button to the Office Clipboard. When you hover the mouse over a button for text, you see the first 50 letters in a pop-up window. If the button represents a picture, they are labeled by number, in the order they are copied or cut.

While the Mail Merge Wizard hasn't changed much from Word 97, we also went through the Mail Merge procedure, showing how easy it is to follow the merge steps in the wizard.
