Several longtime volunteers have passed their positions on after serving us well over the years. Marsha Leonard has been our Membership Director for over two years, and much of that time was spent on working though the Y2K issues we faced along with the rest of the world. Marsha also had to struggle with our antiquated laptop computer and proprietary software, which is now being updated by Tom Anderson. Marsha sent to me many new and prospective volunteers from her membership table, volunteers I was able to utilize in filling our never-ending list of SPCUG jobs. Marsha was also responsible for delivering those large birthday cakes to the July General meetings in the past few years.
Tim Cardozo has handed over his longstanding slide show responsibilities to active volunteer Carol Harris. The slide show is what you see on the large projector screen above the stage at all regular SPCUG General meetings. The slide show displays information before and during the meeting. Tim is still serving in several vital SPCUG positions and has served several terms as one of our Vice Presidents. Tim has also volunteered for our new eBlue Notice Editor position.
Another long-timer is Roy Korb. Although Roy is still serving as our Associate Software Librarian, he has recently retired one of our icons and a center of attention that he has been responsible for since the early beginnings of the SPCUG- the big, wood box of shareware and freeware. When I became a member over 8 years ago, the box was my first stop at the general meetings. Thanks to Roy, Tim and Marsha for years of dedicated volunteer service to the SPCUG.
New Volunteers
Diana DeMuth has accepted the Membership Director position from Marsha Leonard, and has already begun setting into action new plans and procedures to reach out to our still large and loyal membership. We have already seen an accentuated increase in paid renewal dues from existing members, and her ideas for updating the membership tracking process are just igniting. Carol Harris has already presented her first SPCUG slide show at the May General meeting, and is converting the presentation to a more updated Windows format.
Ann Hocking-Pool, a new member, has volunteered for the new Postcard Coordinator job; you have seen her "blue card" work in the mail already. Gordon Taylor, who has been helped out the group as Copy Editor, is also now the new Meeting Reporter. Ken Hopkins was kind enough to put together a vendor table at the May general meeting with printer cartridges for sale, and donated the $30 proceeds from the sales to the group.

I am sure you will find volunteer work for the group very rewarding, and it could even create some interesting opportunities for you.
