The February WP SIG meeting was held in February on the night following the main meeting. This only occurs once in a while, but this year it will again occur in March, as we meet the fourth Thursday. In both February and March, the fourth Thursday comes right after the third Wednesday.

WP has an address book program that we have looked at numerous times. It is within CorelCENTRAL (which is a mini-suite of applications that effectively let you manage your time, tasks, appointments and personal information). Terry Naleway brought in a sample address book we could use, which makes it much simpler to navigate and learn about the program. Thanks, Terry!

Several questions were answered at this meeting concerning the address book.

We also took a quick look at the CD-ROM that WP comes on. On that CD is a reference section which has several PDF files: Network Administrator Guide, CorelCENTRAL, User Guide (for WP), Dragon Naturally Speaking – Getting Started, Dragon Naturally Speaking – Quick Reference, Perfect Script & Macros, Net Perfect, jPdox Web Utilities, Corel Presentations, Paradox, Quattro Pro, Release Notes, Trellix, WP, and WP XML. These references can be read in Adobe Acrobat and printed out as well. The smallest is four pages (the Dragon quick reference), with the largest being 812 pages for Quattro Pro. The User Guide appears to be a duplication of the User Guide you receive with the program itself. There is, however, a lot more information in this reference section than in the user guide. A good thing to keep in mind.

WordPerfect Office 2002 should be out in the Spring, with over 70 percent of the new features and enhancements developed as a direct result of feedback from the customer (that’s us, folks). It will be interesting to see just what those enhancements are but it sounds like they are listening. Sooooo, if you have something you would like to see in the program, let them know. It just might get there.

The March meeting will remain in the same place at the SMUD building on Elkhorn and Don Julio. In April there will be a change to be announced later.
