Treasurer Don Frieze reported net income for May of $1,350, despite payment of $357.50 to a transcription service for a transcription of the general meeting.
Editor Tom Anderson reported that the tapes provided to the transcriptionist included unerased material from the previous meeting, which the transcriptionist duly transcribed. Further exploration in this area is warranted.
Don Frieze also reported that his earlier understanding that our insurance policy could be paid in installments was in error. He has paid off the outstanding balance on the policy.
It was determined that HSC, a regular advertiser in Sacra Blue, had been overbilled, and was due a refund.
A donation to the group's scholarship fund from a member stimulated a discussion of how to account for additional monies donated. It was decided that Scholarship Chairman Don Mongeau will be informed of such donations, and will be responsible for recording and tracking them.
No changes were proposed to the budget presented by Don Frieze at last month's Steering Committee meeting, and it was approved.
Membership Director Diana DeMuth reported that membership is at 567 members, with no new members and 30 renewals during May.
After discussion, the committee reduced advertising rates in Sacra Blue by half, and decided that ads for one-half page or less must be prepaid. Rates will be developed for eBlue banner ads.
Treasurer Don Frieze was given approval to purchase another group of shareware CDs from APCUG when the next edition becomes available.
Volunteer Coordinator Stan Morris reported that volunteers from the group helped KVIE Channel 6 on a fund-raising drive, and represented the group well.
The proposed charter of the Online SIG was presented again and discussed. It was agreed that the SIG has a promising future, but committee members felt more work needs to be done on the scope of services to be provided, and how to handle requests for services outside that scope.
