More Web Sites Worth a Look

Counterexploitation: CEXX - "Actively protect your rights. Do not let the Man keep you down. Do what is good and right, not what some authority figure tells you is good and right. Déjà Vu Again: Groups.Google - The Deja News archive was purchased by Google, the search engine, and is now online and available for searching.

Internet News Network: NetNewsNet - Instead of surfing around to CNN, the New York Times, CNet news, and other news sites, stop here and get the top news from all the sites.

Bread, Milk, Meat…: Groceteria - A fond look at the evolution of grocery stores in America, from the tiny neighborhood stores of the '20s to the huge supermarkets of today.

Do Androids Dream…: Android World - There are lots of people trying to build androids—robots that look like humans. This site rounds up just about all the information available on the subject, including which colleges teach robotics.

Blake at the Tate: Blake Interactive - He's been dead a long time, but William Blake's work still inspires. This interactive site is tied in to the Tate Museum of Modern Art's current exhibit on Blake.

Best of the Best: Newseum - 17 of the best Pulitzer-Prize winning photographs from 1945 on. A broadband version of the site offers audio commentary by the photographers.

Jim Romenesko's Media News: Media News - If you're a media junkie, this is the place to keep up with the latest goings-on in the media world.

Mercury, Here We Come!: JHUAPL - NASA will be sending a mission to Mercury, 30 years after Mariner 10 visited in 1974. This is the mission's site.

Office XP Links
Office XP: A Cautionary Tale: ZDNet Stories - A painful experience with Office XP activation by David Courseyt, executive editor of ZDNet's Anchor Desk.

One Man's Microsoft Hates: ZDNet Stories - David Coursey, executive editor of ZDNet's Anchor Desk, tends to give Micro-soft the benefit of the doubt. But here's his list of things he hates about the company.

And Part Two:: ZDNet Stories - "Quality is not Job No. 1 at Micro-soft and it shows." The second part of Coursey's list.

How Office XP Works Against You: ZDNet Stories - A few of the XP bugs that can cause you problems.

Get It Cheaper: Cheaper Office - Find the best bargain on whichever version of Office XP you want to buy.

But Skip This Edition: The Inquirer - Apparently, there are pirated, pre-activated copies on sale in Singapore, Malaysia, and even Poland for just a few dollars a copy.

Tom Anderson spends entirely too much time surfing the Web and has only this column to show for it. Send him your suggestions for Web sites to visit.
