The Orangevale/Folsom chapter normally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month but annually postpones the November meeting to the first week in December due to the Thanksgiving holiday. It's also becoming a tradition to celebrate the season with a pizza feed and an informal program.
This year, members were asked to submit their favorite Web sites and during the meeting we brought a few of them up for everyone to see. Chapter VP Rich Davis had gathered the info and organized them into a handout so everyone could keep a copy to peruse in more depth at their leisure. The list, by the way, is posted on the chapter's Web site and, as it turned out, there were a lot of great sites.
The meeting started with quite a few members grousing about the rift between AT&T and Excite@Home, as many members had lost their cable broadband connections. During the Q & A session, there were several questions about using the System Configuration Utility in Windows to reduce the number of programs starting up during the boot process and a few more about updating virus definitions.
The meeting was well attended and proceeded in a very relaxed and congenial atmosphere—just what we'd hope for at this time of year. Due to the Christmas Holiday, we won't meet again until January 24. As usual, our welcome mat is always out for people interested in personal computers.
Merry Christmas, everyone
