Hotels and motels around the United States have noticed that many of the people who stay at their facilities need access to the Internet. I have found the following establishments in the Sacramento area that offer high-speed Internet service in every room. The locations I found are fairly expensive places to stay. I did not find out if the Internet connections added to the room cost or were free perks.
Since these are high-speed connections, they will require a network card on your laptop. You will probably also need to do some tweaking to establish the connection. They expect the customers who require the service to be technically knowledgeable (do not expect to find technical help).
My research did not find wireless connections available in any Sacramento hotels, but wireless is popping up in hotels all over. I expect to see wireless connections in many hotels in the near future because they are easier to implement and maintain.
You should pass this list on to friends, relatives, or business associates who are travelling to Sacramento so that they can be connected while away from home. I will update the list when I hear of hotels offering connections (wired or wireless).
