WP's 'Clipbook'

The regular meeting of the WordPerfect SIG was held March 28- you should have been there.

Corel now has a Service Pack 2 for WordPerfect Office 10. Within that service pack is a new feature called the "Corel Clipbook." This is a utility that works with any Windows application to store multiple clips (maximum of 36 clips per clipboard) and manage an unlimited number of clipboards. The clips can be anything from text to sounds and graphics, and can be shared with other users over a network.

Most of our meeting entailed exploring this little utility. We found that these clipboards don't lose their information when you close the program or even when you shut down the computer. When you power back up, they are still there. So if you use a lot of boilerplate text over and over this is a great way to keep it handy.

And you can name the clip so that you know what the clip is when you go to retrieve it. That's a big help, especially if there are 36 clips in the board. It would be hard to remember what is what.

Once launched, the clipbook resides in the system tray and can be accessed by double-clicking on the icon or right-clicking the icon and selecting an option from the popup menu.

With the capabilities of this little utility, it would be well worth the price of the upgrade to WP and then get the service pack from Corel's web site.

If you want to learn more about WP or its other office suite programs, come join us the 4th Thursday of every month at 6:00. See you then!
