As was mentioned last month, Microsoft’s online store provides for rebates to those organizations that provide referrals via links from their Web sites. The problem with SPCUG was: How would we accommodate our various chapters and SIGs with their respective Web sites? Microsoft works with organizations on a tax number basis.
Brian Smither, SPCUG’s Webmaster, has developed a plan that will solve these problems. Basically, from any of our chapters’ or SIGs’ Web sites, a link will pop open a new browser window with details of the process. It has been tested with the cooperation of the Orangevale/Folsom Chapter and seems to work well.
The Steering Committee is also ready to re-implement password access to the latest issue of Sacra Blue, eBlue, and the Mentor List. Please keep reading this column for further information.
Brian Smither, also Sacra Blue’s Product Review Editor, has had to deposit a member’s security deposit for not providing an evaluation within a timely manner. This person was given the opportunity to return the package to the PR editor but elected to keep it and forfeit the deposit. Members are encouraged to contact the PR editor with suggestions on products to request from companies but must realize this is not an avenue for freebies.
