We had our first meeting of the new year at Roseville's R-Stac on January 7, 2003. Eleven members were present. DIGS meeting are about technical and practical aspects of the Digital Image.
The meeting was free flowing where members talked about several items that they had purchased during the holidays. One of the items discussed allowed you to transfer images from your computer to a VHS tape. This allows a person to take there digital images to homes of their friends and show them on their TVs. This allows for easy viewing. It was purchased at Radio Shack.
A Card Reader that would handle several different memory cards was discussed. A hand out on the Card Read was also provided.
A demonstration was presented on digital image compression. The same image was compressed to different JPG sized and them viewed on a viewing program. While there was some loss at higher compression levels, it was not objectionable. It was noted that high compressions levels were needed for those people that do not have High Speed Internet connections.
After the compression demonstration, members talked about their particular digital imaging experiences and needs.
