The Davis chapter got off to a slow start in 2003. A few members made it to our January meeting, and we had a very informal chat about various subjects; some PC-related, some not.
One subject was optical mice: It's now possible to buy a high- quality optical mouse for less than $20.00. I recently bought a nice one from Logitech; it has 2 buttons and 1 wheel (which can also be clicked like a third button), and it connects to the USB or the PS/2 port. It's light and comfortable; it works with older drivers; and, since it has no mechanical ball to gum up, I expect it to run for a long time without any problems.
Several members bought digital cameras during the holiday season. Some look a lot like traditional 35mm SLR film cameras; others are as small as credit cards. Perhaps we'll compare and discuss them in a future meeting.
Whatever our meeting topics will be, everybody is always welcome to come and join in! Our next meeting will be held as usual: on the fourth Wednesday of February, at 7:00 p.m., in the large meeting room at the Davis Public Library. Come on down!
