The "Digital Imaging Group", a SIG of the SPCUG, held its regular "First Tuesday of the Month" meeting at it's new location, the Maidu Senior Center on Rocky Ridge Road in Roseville. Eight members were present. DIG's meeting are about technical and practical aspects of the Digital Image.
The topic was "How do I make my prints look like my monitor". The discussions included the Color Management Modules that are built into Microsoft's and Apple's operating systems. The terms, Gamut, Color Space and Profiles, were technical terms that were discussed and how each effect the digital image. Why calibrating your monitor helped in producing more consistent results was an other subject. Two identical prints were displayed under different types of lights, tungsten and florescent, to demonstrate how color temperature effect our judgement in evaluating digital images. This demonstration displayed the need to standardize the light source for viewing digital images.
