It's just a coincidence, I'm sure, that our BBS sysop decided to run for president just as
Sacra Bytes came down with a terminal condition. (You know,
"terminal" could be a techie-type joke in terms of a BBS, if it weren't so geeky!) Anyway, our new president will preside over the melancholy task of turning off the life support machinery for Sacra Bytes. It may be sooner than you think. Now that the Internet is the medium of choice, local bulletin board systems just aren't as popular as they used to be. With eBlue sure to draw even more traffic to our Web site, the
Sacra Bytes BBS is rapidly losing its raison d'être. [C'est dommage! Ed.]
Ctrl-Alt-Del
Weren't you just a little bit concerned, chief, that your recent MRI would erase your boot sector? Risky, even if you were willing to chance it just to find out the cause of your occasional disorientations (though, frankly, most editors have seemed just a bit dizzy to me). Lately, of course, we've all seen that bionic equipment you've been porting around (although I hope it didn't cost six million dollars). No doubt these electronic enhancements should have you at peak performance. I'm concerned, though, that in your new cyborg configuration you're having to operate under Windows. [I'd think I'd rather have dizzy spells than General Protection Faults. Ed.]

Suspicion
I wasn't the only person who saw you at the last meeting working on your "People to
Shoot" list. Okay, so you claim it was to help Mark Naber take photographs of key user group figures. However, most of those named were writers for the newsletter, and we all know how editors feel about writers, right? [Yes, we love them all. Ed.]
Old Timer
Yes, he's all of twenty-five years old now and working for Wavetek in San Diego, but some of us remember when a scrawny teenager used to dash about our user group meetings, camera in hand, busily snapping shots for the newsletter. It's Matt DiNicola, who recently rang up a former editor and had a nice chat. He was checking his address book (some kind of ancient hard copy device) to see if any of the phone numbers still worked. One did.
Episodic Fits
Here's a little tip for you, boss man: E.T. appears in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom
Menace. Just in case you don't want the movie ruined for you because you're always trying to spot him, let me tell you that he pops up during the scene where Queen Amidala appeals to the Galactic Senate. Good luck trying to spot him, though. The screen is filled with thousands of computer-generated critters!
