Our chapter's June 2 meeting was held at the Helling Library at 7:00 p.m. The meeting opened with the question and answer period. The first question was one that we haven’t found the answer to yet: Does Windows 95/98 have an “unformat” command? I don’t think there is; I wasn’t able to find one. If anyone can shed some light on this, please let me know. We also talked about start pages. I recommend www.hotsheet.com. It has over 200 links, all nicely categorized.
Tom then gave us a demonstration on the venerable Character Map, a holdover from the old Windows 3.1 days. If you’re looking for a character that you know is, say, a Wingding font, but don’t want to search through the whole list, start Character Map by clicking on Start | Programs | Accessories and choose Character Map.

If you don’t have that option, it wasn’t installed with Windows 95. You can install it at this time through the Control Panel’s Add/Remove Programs command. Once you start Character Map, you’ll notice that even fonts like Times New Roman and Courier have unique characters included in them. Once you see the character you want, highlight it, choose Select, then choose Copy, which copies it into the clipboard, where you can paste it into any document. Come up and visit our chapter. Information is on our Web page at www.nccn.net/~ncpcug/.
