Continuing our foray into graphics manipulation, chapter president Gary Sloan opened our
June 3 meeting at Computer Renaissance in Citrus Heights with the usual Q & A session.
Vice President Guy Manwaring had previously arranged a presentation by Jim Cormier on
Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 through Square One Graphics in Auburn. Jim gave an excellent
demonstration on the new features of this powerful photo and graphics manipulation
program. | Jim demonstrated the use of various mask styles to alter or replace images. He showed us how to choose a particular mask to isolate the content needed to create a desired effect. Especially interesting was the use of transparency tools to modify individual layers of the graphic. Image cloning was shown to be great for replacing undesired areas by painting over them with adjacent colors and textures. Both the performance and precision of PHOTO-PAINT tools have been substantially improved. An added bonus is that PHOTO-PAINT 9 can now directly read images from most digital cameras on the market. —Bob Kromrey |
