The GCPCUG held its own Beginners' SIG Wednesday, July 21, in the Beecher Room of the Placer County Library in Auburn at 7:00 p.m. President Dick Towle opened the regular meeting at 7:30, introducing two young high school guests who were demonstrators for the evening. He also welcomed several other guests and members, including four new members. Details of SPCUG's main meeting were covered for the benefit of those who could not attend in Sacramento.
For the main program of the evening, two computers with different speeds (60 vs. 350) different hard-drives, RAM, and processors (Intel vs. AMD) 350 were networked. A hub was not required, only a cross-over cable and a small device that "twists" the connection of two pins on the cable. The demonstration went off without a hitch. Refreshments were served and the 20+ members also participated in a Q & A.

Because of the interest in this demo, and the amount of time it consumed, the remaining demonstration was postponed until our next meeting on Tuesday, August 17. It will include PowerQuest's PartitionMagic 4.0 and Lost & Found. Two copies of these programs will be given to lucky holders of our drawing tickets.
Don't forget that our next meeting will be on the regular third Tuesday evening. Please look at our Web Page for upcoming information: http://www.psyber.com/~gcpcug.welcome.html.
