Brief history of the SPCUG Web site

SPCUG Volunteer Job Descriptions and Listing

Now It's Time to Thank Dave Eden

This month, our present Webmaster, Dave Eden, will be handing off his duties of developing and maintaining our group's Web site. Dave has had that job slot for over four years and truly deserves a break. He has kept the site up to date and running at a good clip month after month keeping the group and the general public informed of our meetings and events. The site has information on many of our group's activities and links to some of our group members' Web pages.

If you have any experience in HTML and uploading files, please consider taking this opportunity. More Web team members are needed for the monthly production of eBlue, our monthly on-line magazine that carries the complete text and images of SacraBlue. We need two more members for the eBlue Web team. If you have some HTML editing experience, your help is greatly needed on this exciting new addition to the SPCUG. If you desire to learn basic HTML and help SPCUG at the same time, I will teach you HTML editing for this project. Contact me at stan@gohawk.com.

New Volunteers

The Educational Training Committee, chaired by Edwin Holloway, is off to a great start with the help of new volunteers Rolf Aalbu, Beth Camero, and Gordon Taylor. This new project involves putting on the PC event to be held September 18th featuring computer training and a swap meet. This is a new and very adventurous step for the SPCUG to take in improving our service to the community. So, if you want to get involved in some highly interesting and enjoyable volunteer work, contact Edwin at edwin@calweb.com.

Dennis Damitz has volunteered some time to help us with the meeting transcription. We can always use more transcriptionists. If you are in need of some experience, or have experience and would like to help us out, this is the opportunity for you. It involves taking notes during the General Meeting. The notes are usually delivered to the Lead Meeting Reporter, who edits and forwards them to the Sacra Blue Editor for submission in the monthly newsletter. Or you may be interested in putting together a report on your own. You can cover a portion of the meeting and submit it directly to the Editor. Several reporters are usually needed to cover the entire evening's meeting. If this interests you, contact Chris Graillat at chrisngraham@jps.net.

Volunteer Needs

I am sure you will find volunteer work for the group very rewarding, and it could even create some interesting opportunities for you. You may be surprised how little time is involved in some of the positions that hold great benefit for the group. Please take a look at the NEW job openings below. If you think you can help the group, give me a call or drop me an e-mail stan@gohawk.com, and let's talk about it--contact Stan Morris by phone at 921-6414.
