Secretary Ken Weger, in the absence of President Dick Towle, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, the 21st. After introductions, Ken opened the first half-hour with Q&A for beginners and others. After several members were helped with their problems, the regular meeting began with a quick synopsis of what happened at the main meeting in Sacramento.

Ken then began the demonstration of a stand-alone 3 1/2" Floppy from Eastman Kodak. He had had some regular photos put on this disk. It was quite revealing to see the many things one could do to enhance the picture and create a slide show, album, etc. Just from this one floppy disk. Interesting!

Ken then went on to demonstrate the newest Microsoft Picture It! 99 software, which sells for only $34.95. It is from Provantage Corp., an Internet e-commerce company, and was delivered to Ken by UPS only four days later. This particular program does almost all the things one would expect from a high-end photo program at much less in cost. Ken showed how to create a soft edge around the photo, as well as remove a figure and put it in another photo. By merely clicking on the button to enhance the photo, everything was done automatically to great satisfaction.

Since Ken also has several other photo programs, including Adobe PhotoShop, plus other expensive products, he finds himself using this program more than ever for its simplicity of operation and quick, satisfactory results.

Ken also demonstrated another Photo program, JASC Paint Shop Pro. This program is used by many Webmasters for its great range of capabilities and ease of use.

Everyone attending won a significant prize, such as Norton Utility, S-Bookshelf, etc.

Our meetings start at 7:00 p.m. with a Beginners' SIG; however, if there are no beginners, our regular meeting will start at our regular time. There will be something of interest for everyone. If you are a beginner, our Q & A is perhaps the best opening for you: ask and you shall receive.
