This month, the Beginners "Smart Computing" SIG continued to serve the members by answering questions about both software and hardware. Some of the items discussed were modems and transfer rates, hard drives and the actual size of a document vs. its reported size. Also discussed was the need to keep hard drives scanned and defragmented and the need and desire to clean up the Internet cookie, history and cache files to help preserve privacy.

The SIG Meeting is from 5:30 p.m. until 6:59 p.m. the third Wednesday in the same building as the General Meeting, so anything that goes past 6:59 p.m. needs to be done in a whisper or in the foyer.
