The WP SIG group was greeted with a new projector on the 28th- really nice. We didn't even have to dim the lights to see the screen and it was extremely clear. Thanks, Dennis.
This month we discussed using shortcut keys. Some typical ones are:
| Align Center | SHIFT + F7 |
Bold (turn on/turn off) | CTRL+ B |
| Close document | CTRL + F4 |
| Copy | CTRL + C |
| Exit | ALT + F4 |
| Hard Page Break | CTRL + ENTER |
| Paste | CTRL + V |
| New page | CTRL + ENTER |
| Open document | CTRL + O |
| Print | CTRL + P |
| Save | CTRL + S |
| Save As | F3 |
Underline (turn on/turn off) | CTRL + U |
| Undo | CTRL + Z |
|
There are several others as well. If you know these keystrokes, you can save time by using them, which keeps your hands on the keyboard instead of moving back and forth to the mouse.
We also discussed how Wordperfect has two ways to enter a date: by text and by code. Date Text puts in the date automatically and that date does not change. Date code, on the other hand, maintains a current date every time you open the document.
We also learned that you can delete an envelope by going into Page Setup and selecting the envelope you don't want and choosing delete.
If you are using WordPerfect and need some assistance, or wish to give some assistance, we would like to invite you to our next meeting. The November meeting will be the November 18 at 7:00. This is the third Thursday, rather than the fourth Thursday (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). Our December meeting is cancelled, but we resume our usual schedule of the fourth Thursday in January 2000.
